King's X

King's X sind wohl mit die Top-Anwärter für Auszeichnungen in den Kategorien Kritikerlieblinge, Musikereinflüsse, Ewiger Geheimtipp, Insidertipp oder kurz: eine der verkanntesten Bands dieser Welt! Beschreiben könnte man dieses Phänomen der Ausnahmemusiker Doug Pinnick (Vocals, Bass), Ty Tabor (Gitarre, Vocals) und Jerry Gaskill (Drums, Vocals) als poetischen, verträumten, relaxt-rockenden Bastard von Jimi Hendrix, den Beatles, Thin Lizzy und Rush. Markenzeichen der Band sind eingangs vor allem der oft mehrstimmige, teils kanonartige Gesang und das traumwandlerische Gespür für perfektes, eingängiges, aber trotzdem nie ganz vorhersehbares Songwriting. Der ausbleibende kommerzielle Erfolg der Vollblutmusiker schlägt sich glücklicherweise nicht in einer schnellen (von Fans häufig befürchteten) Auflösung der Band sondern in einer teilweise kompromissloseren und experimentelleren Linie und einigen genialen Solo- und Nebenprojekten nieder.

King's X sind zu weiß für den Blues, zu schwarz für den Rock und zu gut für diese Welt.
